Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition has sold over one million copies worldwide. These rosy sales figures probably won’t surprise many given the game’s excellent reception from both fans and the gaming press, not to mention the lacklustre competing software at the 3DS’ launch.

Capcom credits much of the game’s success to the system’s 3D capability with it having “successfully expanded the audience for our fighting games. In capturing both new fans and longtime fans of the series, we were able to reach the one million unit mark for this title.”

Given that the game has been outpacing the current crop of 3DS games in sales charts, it’s surely become the best-selling game for the system though we won’t know for sure until Nintendo release its own software figures.
